Integrated Acid: A Commercial Reality

Our experience in process engineering, fermentation, plant operations, and economics enabled Myriant to rapidly scale and validate the cost-competitiveness and performance of our novel platform for the production of bio-succinic acid, including pilot-scale studies in Europe, Mexico, and the United States.

Today, Myriant is starting-up its flagship commercial plant in Lake Providence, LA. Simultaneously, and together with our partner ThyssenKrupp Uhde, we successfully scaled and achieved commercial production of bio-succinic acid at Uhde's biotech commercial validation facility in Leuna, Germany. Importantly, the production process meets targets for commercial yield and product quality.

Lake Providence Facility Under Construction

Commercial-Scale: Myriant was awarded a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to build its bio-succinic acid plant. In June 2012, Myriant became the first renewable chemicals company to receive a loan guarantee from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Myriant's 30 million pound bio-succinic acid facility will be the largest in the North American and it will produce product for our customers and partners across the globe. Based on this early success, Myriant is planning for growth. We are evaluating plans to build plants in key geographies across the globe—either alone or with our strategic partners—for the production of bio-succinic acid and other high-value, green specialty chemicals that can be sold into large, established markets.
