Following these successful pilot runs, in December 2009, Myriant was awarded a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for its bio-succinic acid plant in Lake Providence, Louisiana. In June 2012, Myriant became the first renewable chemicals company to receive a loan guarantee from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Scheduled for start-up in 1Q'13, the plant will produce 30 million pounds of bio-succinic acid annually—the largest facility of its kind in the United States.
Commercial-Scale: Myriant's 30 million pound bio-succinic acid facility will be the largest in the United States and will produce product for our customers and partners across the globe. Based on this early success, Myriant is planning for growth. We are evaluating plans to build plants in key geographies across the globe—either alone or with our strategic partners—for the production of bio-succinic acid and other high-value, green specialty chemicals that can be sold into large, established markets.
Myriant's ability to consistently and repeatedly deliver and sell cost-advantaged green chemicals sets us apart, giving us—and our partners and customers—a competitive advantage. Get the fact sheet »
